Hit and miss. Miike's "Imprint" is far and away the best, also great are Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns" andMalone's "Fair Haired Child". Passable titles are McKee's "Sick Girl", Cohen's "Pick Me Up", Dickerson's "The V Word", Medak's "The Washingtonians" and Argento's "Pelts". The rest are all worth watching, but don't expect more than made for TV enjoyment.

[Complete] Being honest if I do the math, the mean would be 45 for all episodes, but I will consider for the series the concept: nice idea to make some one-hour movies by popular and sometimes masters of the horror genre. Budget issues are obvious, scripts are usually obviously ideas that could work but not enough for 90 minute feature and are usually not good enough even for a 60 minute one (some would have been better being 40 or even 30 minutes).

Though I watch horror cinema obsessively, and revel at any instance of effective scare, the sad reality is that most of what gets made is cheap, cliched and toothless. The fact that the Masters of Horror series enlisted so many big names to direct, and ended up with almost uniformly awful episodes, is a testament to the genre's woeful predicament. Miike's "Imprint" is by far the best episode. Beside it, only Cohen's "Pick Me Up" and Landis' "Deer Woman" are worth watching.
