Very good until it sucked. Desperately trying to find an end to its own story, an anime wanders through Germany, pondering theories of nature/nurture, sociopathy and psychopathy.... but it eventually realises it has nothing to say and fades away slowly into a limp death...

Characters behaving irrationally, plot being long-winded and stuffed with unimportant side characters, mysteries that never get proper answers... there's little to like in this series.

A slow burn but really interesting story.

One of the greatest anime series of all time. A great story, despite a pretty glaring early plot hole. One of the few animes that I kinda wished had a live-action adaptation (3-4 tight seasons; being German I think it would work in the same tone as something like Dark). You've got intrigue, mystery, and a great group of characters, it makes for good TV.

One of the best starts to an anime but mediocre finish. 10-15 episodes too long, it starts dragging in the end.

ive never seen a show ruin its potential as much as monster. TOOOOOOO long for no damn reason and to the point where voice actors get recycled.

The series has one of the best villains in anime. Great twists, great mystery. I don't mind the episodicness of some episodes as I take it more as world-building and character study, a welcome divergence from the greater plot arch which is very, very heavy.

Slave morality overload. Pull the fucking trigger already, Tenma. Becomes completely unwatchable by the second half with characters-of-the-week who we never see again.
