By far the best of the Monster series so far, and probably the best bit of telly I’ve seen for a while. I had little knowledge of Gein or his legacy beforehand, and appreciate the way the core story is balanced with the changing public attitude towards ‘murder porn’ over the years. Yes, it takes dramatic liberties and is not exactly historical record, but at least it’s bloody entertaining. Almost certainly Hunnem’s best role and performance too.

Frustratingly unfocused. The creators probably think they were clever by tying in various movies inspired by Ed Gein, but the jumping back and forth was just a mess. And then they fabricated a lot of parts for seemingly no reason - the ham radios with Ilse/Christine and the whole Ted Bundy arc. This could've been interesting if it were 4 episodes. But the added fluff to get it to 8 ruined it. Also, it was disturbingly graphic. Unsurprising, but I didn't care for it.
