Monsters - Season 2

I don’t see the point in this series – it’s long and dull, meandering around without direction for nine episodes (at least two of which are dedicated entirely to graphic descriptions of child abuse that may never even have happened), and only tolerable if you’ve got something better to do while it’s on in the background. A few decent performances (although Bardem is underused), and the last coupla episodes on the actual trials were okay, but I’d long given up by then.

I guess Ryan Murphy thinks he’s clever distracting people from how messed up he is, but all he does is shine a spotlight on it. He clearly relates to his subjects, he always does. He takes monsters, slaps a rainbow on them, sexualizes them, and calls it “art.” It’s his same tired formula. I don’t know what crimes Murphy himself has committed, but I’d bet they’re uglier than anything he’s ever put on screen.
