My Dinner with Hervé

What kind of biopic about Hervé Villechaize doesn't even MENTION "Forbidden Zone"? Had it not been for Peter Dinklage, this would have been totally unwatchable. His inventive, energetic performance almost redeems the shoddy material. The notion that twat "writer" could have effectively interviewed Gore Vidal--or in this case, a pale imitation--is preposterous, and he richly deserved his "bad luck". Was there no dialect coach? Perhaps Andy Garcia is incapable of speaking anything but New-Yawkese

Blandly enjoyable biopic is a rather awkwardly structured compromise between the old-fashioned birth-to-death telling and the modern, more effective style of using one incident to explore different aspects of the subject's life. Dinklage is never physically believable as Villechaize, but he does create an endearing, pitiable portrait of the man, with Dornan effective as the straight guy. Fleeting recreations of GUN and FANTASY are fun, with Garcia a fine evocation of Montalban.

Great performance by Peter Dinklage. I didn't think he could pull it off, but he did an amazing job. The problem with the movie was the interviewer, Jamie Doman. His character was very one-dimensional and just a distraction. Villechaize was an interesting person portrayed marvelously by Dinklage. It was eventful and at times funny and sad. It was all ruined by the unnecessary extra character.

Don't think you could stay true to real events & have much more than an interesting & quite entertaining character study + a showcase for Dinklage's talents --- Crazy busy ? - hope to fill in review (in detail) when have time. For now just score & maybe notes. Hope everyone is well & watching good stuff ?

Peter Dinklage kusursuz oynuyor. Altın Küre'ye aday olacak. Jamie Dornan için aynı övgüyü yapamıyorum. Sonunda bizi ters köşeye yatırsa da Sacha Gervasi nin sırlarını öğreniyoruz. Küçücük boyumla ne işler başardım.
