Patton Oswalt is a great storyteller, but he's only occasionally very funny. That's not necessarily the worst thing, but it makes me like him more as a blogger than a stand-up.

There's some real gold in this - The story with his daughter seeing a clip of The Wolfman on TV, the phenomenal bit about selling out by doing casino shows. But I'm not sure if I'm too young or he's losing his edge. He feels weighed down by his new maturity, and the jokes have become about buying pants that don't fit.

The wolfman joke brings like 70 points to this score of 72. Unfortunately, while his older humor had a lot more too it and still told amusing stories peppered with jokes, now it just feels like he's talking to a group of friends, not delivering timed, well-thought out material.

Oswalt's stand-up has always been equal parts angry indignation at the world, as well as himself. This special is a more mature Patton, now with a child, who still tries to maintain the facade of his younger self, but he has grown softer. This isn't a bad thing at all!
