Casting Lance Reddick as Wesker is like casting Keanu Reeves as Blade, but he's still the only halfway decent thing about this dumpster fire. It's hilarious that, in their zeal to push The Message, the showrunners (inadvertently, I'm sure) depict a world run primarily by women to be the most dystopian place imaginable.

Being a huge RE fan, including some of the movies, I really didn’t know where to place my expectations. Unfortunately, Netflix’s version of this franchise is quite a mess. From a sloppy pacing and overall story progression, to horrible screenwriting decisions, and bland characters. It doesn’t really answer any questions it lays out. Even the apocalypse itself is very minimal to the overall product. I feel bad for Reddick as he does quite well with what he is given, it just isn’t much.

Feels like a throwback to 1993 Mario Bros movie levels of “ehh fuck the source material” haha

I didn't have high expectations for this going into it. It just barely manages to be better than the shitfest that was the final two entries in the original live action film series. It feels like a standard teen drama post-apocalypse story with Resident Evil references sprinkled in at the last minute to get funding. But I will say, Lance Reddick is the saving grace of this watch through. Every scene with him is at least tolerable. The rest? Yeah, no.

Resident Evil has had a lot of adaptations between the big budget action films, the low budget Welcome to Raccoon City and the CG films. None of them are perfect, they all have their own flaws but they all have something going for them too. This series has nothing going for it. Annoying teenagers, boring family drama, bizarre dialogue and scenes about inappropriate topics both for the show and in general. The script feels like scraps from a writing room floor that should have been left there.

When I want to sleep, I turn this shit on.
