Smoke

The acting is top notch especially Jurnee Smollet but the story can't quite overcome what feels like missing elements. Suddenly and ineffectively we are thrown into the what the plot is and it doesn't quite make sense. It also makes everything else that comes after the big reveal essentially filler and that is way too much of the show for it to be great.

Used to love Lehane but this show is terrible, and Edgerton is horrible. Gave up after five episodes, not even Leguizamo popping up could keep me interested.

Smoke is a moody crime drama from Dennis Lehane that starts slow but gradually sears its story through dark atmosphere, compelling performances by Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett, and immersive cinematography. The finale — ablaze with chaos, fire, and psychological intensity — leaves a lasting impression.
