I decided to watch this movie because I have a college philosophy test in a week and doing anything but studying makes me feel kinda guilty. Also it helped me practise my italian. It was as I expected: a RAI budget and awkward exposition dialogue so you can understand what the fuck was going at the time; everything seems very historically accurate, which is cool. If you like philosophy, you are going to enjoy this movie.

Some of the dialogue scenes are very pleasing, specially when Socrates questions the positions of others. In general it's a decent work, but there are some weird edition cuts (just like in the other Rosselini biographical movies).

Salud to the world's first and greatest badass

A nice informative documentary about the life of Socrates but I think it doesn't offer anything in terms of cinematic art but just shows a competent example of theatrical mis-en-scene of historical facts. By the way for a viewer like me who thinks that Socrates was a charlatan and a decadant prophet of Christian monotheism, I think that the repellant and haughty character of Socrates was adequate and even his speech annoyed me a lot.
