Great performances by both Alan Rickman and Denzel Washington...oh, wait. Mos Def. Sorry. Force of habit. Though, I'll bet you a woolen scarf and a Spanish doubloon that Denzel's name was on a white board during the casting meeting.

HBO is known for making excellent docu-dramas and this one is no exception. If you are going to make the effort to watch this, you should try and find PBS' episode of The American Experience which deals with this same subject.

This is the movie that made me realize Mos Def isn't just one more rapper turned actor, he's actually pretty damn good. The story here is one worth telling and definately appealing and quite entertaining.

About what you would expect from a mid-aughts “prestige” TV drama: all the clichés are here (down to Sedgwick whose only function is to badger her husband about the late nights at the office) but Rickman and Bey’s effective, understated performances, and the fascinating medical subject matter make it worthwhile. Falters by its glib handling of the racial barriers Thomas faces; ironically, the marginalisation of this makes the epilogue feel forced and tacked on, rather than legitimately moving.

Surprisingly good, I was expecting something a lot slower and plodding and boring, and instead got something that somehow got its hooks into me and held me in place.

Excellent portrayal of how a terrible time marred an amazing work.

It is a very good movie, it shows very well the professional prejudice.
