The 'Burbs

Rocky first season. Tonally a bit confusing at times. It does capture the paranoid neighbors chasing the red herrings, that the movie has , pretty well. Supporting cast is hit or miss. If it gets a second season it needs to buy in and just go for balls out crazy I think. For now, its decent C tier binge watching.

I don't understand the tone… is it meant to be nostalgia bait for a 35 year old movie? Or for a 25 year old series (desperate housewives)? Or a parody of whodunits? If so, why does it both take itself so seriously but also doesn't? As a TV series adaptation of the movie it works fine, but this just felt… not necessary. Ending it on a cliffhanger when it's the type of show to get cancelled after a season is rough. Mark Proksch is great as totally-not-Colin-Robinson in this though.
