A spoof of the British style of news broadcasting - including ridiculous stories, patronising vox pops, offensively hard-hitting research and a sports presenter clearly struggling for metaphors. (imdb)

A (worthwhile) copy of The Onion. Made a decade later, and very much so for the UK by the UK (FUKBUK), and thus probably more topical for those there/then. But, the same tactics, performed perhaps with slightly less tact on a lesser budget. Fitting for the flat affect and direct-funnies of the Biritishs' senses of humuours.

Scharfe Nachrichten-Satire, britischer Humor. Vermutlich das Vorbild von Switch reloaded.

"Taking the news reefer and pulling like a madman." Each successive episode gets more inspired, with the writing improving and the ensemble cast upping its game every week. The first show where Iannucci's imprint can be felt; Steve Coogan warms up his Alan Partridge for "Knowing Me, Knowing You" later that year; Rebecca Front shows off her fantastic versatility ("...gives the sensation of labor without being sentenced to children"). And I just [heart] Christopher Morris and Patrick Marber.

I watched it a few days after Brass Eye which didn't work in it's favor. More obvious, stupidity related humor compared to Brass. Still has it's moments.
