This is a hilarious series that works as long as you don't care about consistency or coherency. Details of the world and its magic are changed, ignored, or forgotten about as needed for the plot, sometimes just for a joke. The writing seems aimed at grade-schoolers, but the subject matter, and sometimes humor, veer into high-school and adult territory. I liked a lot of the characters and wish they'd been in a slightly higher caliber show.

First season is great but the second is...okay. Has it's moments and is definitely rushed because of Disney execs, but even if it weren't it's just very...samey. The characters interacting just feels like the same moments over and over with a typical evil tyrant plot with plenty of deus ex machina moments which is the only thing moving the show forward at all.

A little bit of Harry Potter, a little bit of Steven Universe.

I really like this so far. The humor reminds me a lot of Gravity Falls, and episode five "covention" has the coolest fight scene I've seen since Legend of Korra. Interested to see where it goes.
