Unfortunately, the premise is a bit thin, and the "competency hearing" thing is overplayed (we keep hearing about it over and over). Also the soon-to-be ex-wife character is manufactured from pure 100% cardboard ("Shut your mouth, Carolyn, your fangs are showing"...lol). But it's well-acted, and we get to see a lot of fun old faces. We are also called upon to believe in the plausibility of long-sustainable life underground, and that the victim wouldn't call out when anybody else was around.

De Havilland, Pidgeon, Cotten, and the horrifying premise propel it past a bunch of scenes that add nothing and a frustrating repetitiveness.

This would've worked much better as a short film or an episode of a TV anthology.
