Got a rise out of me for the introduction - and immediate spooky dispatch! - of a character who I don't recall even being mentioned before she appeared. Her backstory gets worked out later. My complete confusion ("Hang on... who's this, now?") coupled with an impossibly young Helen Hunt burning up a Totino's party pizza from Safeway lured me into a spot where I grudgingly admitted liking the film. A little. All the same, I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

This has an interesting twist that doesn't really work given what happens before.

As you might guess from the synopsis, this is a blatant ripoff of _Carrie_. The young miss playing the teenage reject even uses the same body language that Sissy Spacek does in the source material
