Season 1: While not as spectacularly bold as its thematic cousin Cowboy Bebop, Trigun surpasses it in its fantastic worldbuilding. Vash and the supporting cast are all interesting in their own ways, and the overarching plot is great, picking up even more in the back half. My complaints are mainly in the uneven tone of the story, but the show itself is too fun and interesting to waste time on that. Great show. Worth a watch for any Bebop fan.

First half is a spaghetti western comedy - think Bugs Bunny meets Clint Eastwood - but the second half becomes much darker as we learn about Vash's past and motives. Basically it's Rurouni Kenshin with guns and without the crappy filler, make of that what you will. However, It ends rather abruptly and not much of the villains' backstory is explored, particularly Legato. Still a good watch though, especially for action anime fans.

A very frustrating series. The premise of a sci-fi Western action comedy could have been excellent. Instead, its gets bogged down with silly "Vash acts crazy/perverted, get yelled at/hits by Meryl" bullshit in the early episodes and then weepy melodrama later on. Meanwhile, there are only a few minutes of action per episode, and it's often underwhelming. Having a pathetic wimp as the main character doesn't help, especially when Vash refuses to kill, an insane decision in his world. Crap show.
