Unforgotten

With an amazing cast and great cinematography, surely this cannot fail, and yet because it is geared toward Harlan Coben slow reveal of non-puzzling mysteries with quirky twists, it ends up being nothing but disappointment. Its attempt to be PC always fail because by showing the Christ-like suffering of various protected special interests, it also reveals the dysfunction of having them among us; this seems unintended. Too slow, too consciously contrarian and ironic.

I wanted to like this, but as season 1 progressed, characters started making weirder choices, culminating in completely absurd, out of character behaviours at season's end. Stopped watching after season one, Feeling sorry that I even started.

The slow peeling of people's lives is always beautifully crafted and acted. That theme song just sticks in the brain.

I really like Nicola Walker, shes in so many of these brit police procedurals that it feels comfortable. Neat premise on cold cases where you see multiple stories from potential suspects, and one case over a season leads to good character development. Edit, through five seasons. The first two seasons are the strongest and Walkers departure hurts season five, but the score still stands.
