I think it speaks a lot to Mel Gibson's worldview that the scenes that aren't violent battle are unbearably corny. He sure knows how to shoot violence, though. It feels very Trump's America.

Remember the time we went to that techno club in East Germany and you put Drano in my Kahlua & milk? Asshole.

Final 90 seconds better than the rest of the 90 minutes. Child actor was decent, but tbh this movie could’ve been so much better. I thought it would be.

This movie is a vibe. "...Maude's been gardening. That's kind of over now. I've been substituting at the middle school. I shaved my beard."

This movie reminded me how much I missed Ryan Reynolds... (Kenneth Branagh was just as amazing, though!!)

Very good. Ending not entirely convincing but still, highly recommended. I love that Richard Widmark.

Instead of drums he could've been learning to bang pans together for as subtle as this script is.

yikes, we really are starved for black genre cinema huh? FROM DUSK TILL DAWN is an on-point comp for the second half of this, unfortunately.

Not particularly profound, but very well made for a light romance, an authentic peek into Scottish island culture, and a good job from Wendy Hiller. Certainly worthy of Powell and Pressburger.
