Be My Cat: A Film for Anne

I was really optimistic going into this and it ended up being so lame. It's packed with blatant filler to reach feature length, and even though the director/star is mostly believable in the role, he's way too in love with his own performance. The other performances simply do not cut it and really hamstring the film's potential realism, as do the terribly executed scenes of violence that are so fake-looking and disappointing

Think Mark Duplass' character in Creep, stripped of any Hollywood irony. Adrian Tofei is so convincing and unsettling in his role as the protagonist that he'll have you Googling the names of the cast with concern as the titles roll. A triumph of meta-theatricality and horror.

A very interesting (and disturbing) watch. It's well made and it managed to keep me on edge.

Indie low budget horror very reminiscent of Creep and Creep 2, only better. The lead character is annoying enough that he is hard to watch, but the constant sense of dread and dark humor make up for it.

The Romanian New Wave does everything better, and Adrian Tofei's take on shoestring-budget indie horror is no different. It's by no means gory, nor nail-bitingly tense, but in terms of believability it puts most of the American ones to shame.
