The plot line of the protagonist’s film is enjoyable, and the reasonable amount of screen time for the kitty is much appreciated. The characters and the romance are a bit bland though, and hold back what is otherwise a competently made film.

This was so Twink-y I wanted the Shrek Limited Edition set. Made me miss the Curzon Soho

It's not that this was bad, it's just that we've come full circle to bland romances in gay films. I was more interested in Jessica Raine and Joel Fry's relationship but that flamed out quick. I've noticed Fry in a few recent films (Yesterday, Cruella) and I hope he gets a breakout role. Otherwise, this film was shot well and edited fine, but there wasn't too much going on and I didn't invest too much into the characters. Fav scene: dance studio show with the girl and the roll of paper.

Colin Morgan is the whole show - genuinely funny, sweetly awkward. A good, charismatic actor in search of a better script. It does have its moments, and the central romance is sweet if undernourished. The supporting characters are sadly underwritten and underused but Colin keeps it watchable throughout.
