Condemned to Live

The acting and story aren't that great but the movie managed to be surprisingly tragic and it was refreshing not to have a standard villain.

Well, that was an awful lot of cheesy acting to be found in one place. Much of the dialogue was so wooden that the script seemed more turned on a lathe than typed (a few of the characters spent the bulk of their time quoting fortune cookies). But the film had a certain darksome visual style and flair: kudos to the art director/DP. Anyway, hard to truly dislike a movie replete with torchlit mobs, swooning maidens and its own resident Igor.

This 'B' horror was a bit too slow moving for me. Not very scary either, but it follows the age old tradition of vampire bites and what it does to people. Whats most interesting about this is that the small production company borrows sets and costumes from more known horror films as "The Vampire Bat (1933)" and "Bride of Frankenstein (1935)". So this is more a curiouso for fans of old creepy stuff like this then good on it's own merits.
