I'm kinda bored to see coming of a age movies. If that is not great, then it is little bit unnecessary to watch. Little girl plays her part, she's great, she's annoying as it is supposed to be because the movie lacks from greater scenario, dialogues etc. One of the main problems of these movies : Great child acting can not and should not save the whole movie.

Thoughtful and understated, with some of the best child acting I've seen. Very slow, but methodically so.

Some impressively long scripted shots with the children in this one, but the story doesn't have anything new to say.

Striking child-perspective film-making. The director captures a lot of what early childhood summers felt like. This is supposed to be viewed through a lens of grief and adoption troubles, but this key element took a back seat for me. I saw it as a documentary-style family drama starring a slightly sociopathic six-year-old. Very real, sad, fleeting, emotionally detached as well.

This movie deserve credits for portraying the world like the child protagonist experience it, most of all in not being fully aware of the cause of her mom's death and the fear of her being sick as well. I also liked how the protagonist isn't portrayed as a perfect angel child, but acts out like a real kid in such a difficult situation would do.

Slice-of-life coming-of-age film. It shows a young girl dealing with the death of her mother, alternating between being a little hellion and an adorable angel. There's not enough story for me, but there were some beautiful shots, and the kids do a very good job in front of the camera. Favorite scene: the napkin game (somebody teach that to me!).

Boring and derivative.
