With ease it gets a stamp of premium Show Don't Tell. What's even more alluring and something i densely didn't get until only halfway through: it employs the extraordinary mechanic of DON'T Show Don't Tell. The real story actually takes place in the time between the scenes. After a fussy half hour (i was thinking of quitting) it suddenly clicked and afterwards i restarted it to rewatch the start. And i have to say i'm pretty blown away by this succinct and intelligent study of waning friendship

Much of its undeniably sorrow is unspoken and unseen -- Sallitt's framing is so precise and neutral, yet so intimate --, and that's why this is such an engrossing drama about how friendships come and go, some friends can't be saved and the good memories are all we've got. Fourteens makes a good pair on mental health alongside Bernadette.
