This is less a story about Joe Exotic and has more to do with things such as how does media attention affect people's personal lives and their opinions, Louis Theroux feeling guilty and a little bit manipulated by Joe and how much concern is really shown to the animals vs. scoring a good dose of crazy drama.

Best viewed as an epilogue of sorts to Tiger King; Louis highlights some of the serious ethical failings of TK's creators as well as the web of lies surrounding Joe and the creation of the park. Also interesting to see Louis' hackles somewhat raised by competing documentary makers.

Theroux seems a bit glum, as if he's reluctant to participate in the Tiger King circus, doesn't really know what to think, is aware that 22 years is an awfully long sentence but Joe is probably more unpleasant that he initially thought, and harbouring regrets about the limits of his own past practice without really knowing how to improve things except by drawing attention to his own failings (something he has done before), but for all that still feels compelled to go out in search of new gossip.

A bold sweep against 2020's general concensus in the Tiger King hype which I am pleased to see that Louis also leant towards.
