Lazy take on masculinity in an era full of lazy takes on masculinity. So what are we to learn, that broken people can be manipulated into committing terrible acts? K. But even when it presents good things (gyms, cleaning your room), it does so mockingly. And of course, he has problems with gays. There's room to criticize hyper-masculinity, but this ain't it. Jesse tries and I enjoy Brody as the cult leader, but this hits all the familiar beats. Very predictable with no emotional or moral payoff.

It has some interesting ideas that it plays with terribly and are portrayed with horrible dialogue and dull storytelling.

The current panic of the man-o-sphere and return to organisations or icons of hyper masculinity in woke times where men often feel persecuted, is an interesting subject matter, but Manodrome doesn't even scratch the service and after a nice start sizzles out in a cliched manner of public shooter violence. Eisenberg is again an uncomfortable character to watch, trading in his often cerebral neuroses with a more physical one. I'm not sure this casting worked for me, but i respect the effort
