I prefer the ending of the TV series far more to what was covered in this film. I feel as though the end of that series provided a nicely optimistic, yet uncompromising end to such a tragic tale. That being said, I found that the complexity and attention to detail in this film really honored the series, and the plot was very captivating. The animation and soundtrack were absolutely stellar in this and I loved seeing everyone functioning as a team, even if it was only an illusion. Well done.

Really confusing to watch. I can't go into too much detail without spoiling, but the plot was really hard to follow and honestly wasn't as interesting as the main series. The ending was pretty weird too, and not necessarily in a good way either. Though the trippy visuals were still a treat.

I can understand why this movie ended up turning off many fans of the series - it's doing a tricky, complex thing that involves majorly messing with the original's ending. But the results are worth it. There's a critique here that could apply to so many superhero-adjacent works, about saving the world in ways that allow the oppressive systems that put it in danger to keep rolling on, and about putting the responsibility of helping the oppressed on their own shoulders. Plus it's really queer!

Weird art, time-twisty paradoxes everywhere, and everything upends the genre tropes you're expecting. It's morally and socially inert, but I watched it anyway. Not entirely sure why I rate it so highly, but I do.

Very good spin off movie from the original masterpiece that was the TV series. The authors of the TV series explore many potential concepts that they didn't in the TV series. Still, this is not something as remotely as powerful and moving work of art as the original series but still it's way above the average.

I am not smart enough to understand the last 30 minutes. But it was very captivating. The animation is also some of the most beautiful looking I've seen

The series was (surprisingly) great, and this follow-up film did not disappoint either. Nicely adds to what came before but isn't afraid to push the whole concept in an interesting new direction. Coolest of all; it's really visually rich. Every other shot is either framed creatively, offers some fantastic and/or trippy aesthetic, or is just gorgeous to look at. And just how rad was that gun-time-delay battle??
