No - it's not a great film. But for a true story being told about grief it's an absolute get it out cry fest if you need that. Aidan Quinn delivers and at least it does not disguise itself for being something it's not.

If you saw The 5th Quarter in its limited run in theaters, you may have been put off by some of its language, but for the DVD version they've cleaned that up. This faith-based movie presents emotional performances mixed with actual footage from Wake Forest's standout season. And it points to how God can save the infirm and impact the broken, even amidst the most painful times of life. (pluggedin.com)

Why? In giving this a 10, I'm being generous...bad acting, horrible script, absent directing, sappy soundtrack...melodrama at its absolute worst. This belongs in the rubbish can. Actually, the film isn't even good enough to mingle with trash; forcing it to do so would be to insult rubbish.
