"Oh, I get it, it's a Hitchcock pastiche. No, wait, it's an American giallo! No, no, it's a twisted mirror held up to the film industry—oh, we're just doing broad sex comedy now. As much as I like it, 'Body Double' buckles under the weight of its stylistic influences and overlapping tones, supported by what is, to my knowledge, the only load-bearing Frankie Goes to Hollywood music video in cinema history."

"Despite the obvious mercenariness of the genre, there is (or was) a greater leeway in exploitation films for formal playfulness than in more culturally prestigious productions, and 'Lady Snowblood' is one of the few examples of it resulting in a work that's not merely intriguing but actually great. You've got to admire the confidence that the story you're telling is so compelling that the constant reminders of its artificiality only enhance its effect."
