"These guys are from legends, they're basically gods." "There's only one god, ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." Nick fury finally gets the gang together, but some assembly is required. Loki comes into his own as a villain, and Thor uses the lessons he learned in his movie to bring the team together. Unbelievable visual effects and an over-the-top story give Phase One a long awaited crescendo. Beautiful. (First logged 5/6/2015)

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Rated 28 Feb 2020

Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, and Stanley Tucci all in one Marvel movie? Hail Hydra! I give this one 2 out of 3 fake German accents. "Jesus, somebody get that kid a sandwich!" (First logged 5/4/2015)

Thor (2011) - Rated 27 Feb 2020

Oh man... Thor. The most striking part of this movie, aside from the interesting design and lore, is Hemsworth's performance... his "over-dramatic mythological being thrown in amongst the mortals" schtick provides a great comedic relief. I'm bracing myself as the pieces fall into place and set the stage for The Avengers. The hype train has me. First logged 5/7/2015.

Iron Man 2 (2010) - Rated 27 Feb 2020

Rourke's villain's motivations are simple but effective. Rockwell's portrayal of Hammer CEO is also quite good. Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard is jarring but he does it quite well. Elon Musk's ten second cameo was a nice surprise I'd forgotten about. But none of this matters as much as Justin Theroux's fantastic writing, with lines like "Don't say 'wind farm' -- I'm already feeling gassy." and "Drop your socks and grab your Crocs, we're about to get wet on this ride." The Incredible Hulk (2008) - Rated 27 Feb 2020

"Don't make me hungry... you won't like me when I'm hungry." A really great cast, actually, with Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and Edward Norton. Would've been interesting to see it play out as a trilogy like Iron Man did. I knew this was one of the weaker entries in the MCU, but definitely better than I remembered it. Iron Man (2008) - Rated 26 Feb 2020

"Iron Man... that's kinda catchy... it's got a nice ring to it. I mean, it's not technically accurate. The suit's a gold-titanium alloy, but it's kind of evocative, the imagery, anyway." A great start to the MCU. Last time I watched them all was five years ago... Baby Tony Stark is so cute. Fun to go back again and watch where it all began. (First logged 5/17/2015)

I'm a sucker for time-travel movies. And it doesn't get much better than this one. I give it 5 out of 5 Hectors.

A couple fun cameos and Seth Rogen's character doing too many drugs are among the highlights of this instant Christmas classic. First logged December 6th, 2016.

The Town (2010) - Rated 25 Feb 2020

Extended alternate cut. After watching the four hour Return of the King extended cut, this 2 1/2 hour runtime made for a fun little heist flick. Affleck is a force to be reckoned with.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) - Rated 24 Feb 2020

Extended version. It's hard to justify a four hour movie, but damn, what a journey. A strong ending.
