Poorly translated from the book, The Half Blood Prince doesn't stand that well as a Harry Potter movie. As a simple fantasy movie, however, it kinda works. Obviously just meant as a bridge to the finale, which should be pretty epic.

Another one of the 'great' Emmerich disaster movies. Never mind the dumb plot holes and atrocious dialog - it's a fun movie where aliens blow up the world!

Sherlock Holmes (2009) - Rated 11 Mar 2010
Lots of fun and one of the better movies of the holiday season (better than Avatar at least). The plot is rather muddled and depends on several Xanatos Gambits but it's still fun to watch it unravel. Robert Downey Jr is an excellent Holmes and he also kills the English accent. Nice to see an American do it for once! Jude Law is likeable in this movie as well.

Awful, just awful. The best part about this movie (and why I gave it a 30) is that it was so bad it led to the awesome Casino Royale reboot and the amazing Daniel Craig. Nothing against Pierce Brosnan but he starred in some awful Bond movies.

Le Cercle rouge (1970) - Rated 11 Mar 2010
The second Melville crime film that I've seen - I didn't like it as much as "Le Samourai" but it's still an amazing film. Alain Delon once again plays the cool cat and goes after one big heist, using a former police officer and an escaped convict as accomplices. Beautifully shot and expertly acted, it's a testament to New Wave cinema. I'm left with one thought - why can't we dress like that all the time?
