Anachronistic soundtrack clashes too much with the French court surroundings (otherwise, one of the best compilations ever). The film is too light and short on the politics of it's day to be really interesting, just decadent.

Return to form for Scorsese. Great performance by Dicaprio. Nicholson as the villian is sort of disappointing, being not nearly as good as Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York. Also has you laughing at inappropriate times and goes for the gross out too often.
