Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) - Rated 01 Oct 2025
Very compelling story but I think not well served by the extra length. Don't feel like the extra time gives more depth or insight to Leo or de niros characters. They're just straight up evil people, and the extra time doesn't deepen that understanding. Lily Gladstone is fantastic in this. Did not enjoy how the movie ended it, but ultimately, that's part of the truth

Judas and the Black Messiah (2021) - Rated 01 Oct 2025
There are good parts to this movie, but ultimately the movie has very little interest in lakeith stanfields character and so the movie cant hold up itself despite a game performance by him

The Brutalist (2024) - Rated 01 Oct 2025
There's something in this movie that works. It's a movie where nothing much happens but maybe needs to be this long anyways to make the scale feel real

A Complete Unknown (2024) - Rated 02 Aug 2025
Creating a movie climax around Dylan going electric bored me but enjoyed most of the rest of the movie more than I expected

Sinners (2025) - Rated 01 Aug 2025
Movie starts out insanely compelling but the movie limits stack and smokes ambitions and agency over time to the point that they become less interesting in the vampire era. Not really sure what the movie wanted to say about race besides some general feeling of white people are bad and a risk to black people

Dune: Part Two (2024) - Rated 01 Aug 2025
The choice to make chani a skeptic is inspired and the visuals are strong, but the movie would have benefitted from a sharper break to lean into Paul's lack of humanity instead of it being a final 10 minute pivot

The Iron Claw (2023) - Rated 28 Jan 2025
Not sure why the movie didn't work for me, something about the characters varying physique and maybe something about the wrestling stakes being semi fake, but without being able to point to it, have to give it a solid 76

Megalopolis (2024) - Rated 21 Oct 2024
Pretty bad unfortunately. The movie plays with not taking itself super seriously which is the only thing that almost saves the unbelievably uninteresting parts when the movie is trying to make a point
