45 4% Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) - Rated 08 Apr 2016
"This film suffers from most of the same problems as Man of Steel. The actors are pretty good, but the movie is too long and too slow. This one also jumped around a bit more and felt clunky. My least favorite thing though, is Lex Luthor's character; it felt so untrue to any version of the character I've seen. The redeeming hope for me though, is that I think Ben Affleck may be the best Batman yet. He needs his own movie, sans Zack Snyder."
85 79% 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) - Rated 08 Apr 2016
"Wonderfully surprised by this movie! I was expecting something akin to Cloverfield and this was a completely different type of movie. With basically only three people in the film for any significant time, the movie felt claustrophobic (in a good way) as you question each of the characters and who they really are. The ending almost seemed out of place to the rest of the film, but was done well enough that I didn't care. I'd like to see a sequel of some sort."
88 85% Deadpool (2016) - Rated 08 Apr 2016
"So irreverent, but so well done! The writing is amazing, the amount of easter eggs is ridiculous, the effects were over-the-top, but appropriate. The pacing was perfect and found myself never bored or wanting more. The movie felt like it's ADD or schizophrenic which just lends itself to the titular character."
88 85% Tucker & Dale vs Evil (2010) - Rated 06 Nov 2015
"Smart and funny, it flips the whole hillbilly horror genre around. It hits me in just the right intersection of horror, comedy, and romance, similar to Shaun of the Dead."
63 25% Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) - Rated 04 Oct 2015
"A worthy sequel that felt just as good. Having said that, both films feel like Adam Sandler's attempt at children's animated films, which if you're a fan of Adam Sandler and animated children's films, you'll probably like it (as I did)."
89 87% The Martian (2015) - Rated 04 Oct 2015
"The quality of this film cannot be understated. The writing, cast, acting, directing are all great. It was funnier than I expected and really showed people caring about each other and doing their best to help bring everyone home. It felt a lot to me like Apollo 13 and is probably just as good. Having said that, it's not my favorite kind of story so I'm docking a few points even though I realize this is just a matter of personal taste."
58 14% Minions (2015) - Rated 31 Jul 2015
78 61% Jurassic World (2015) - Rated 31 Jul 2015
"While it is more grandiose than all the rest, not as deep as the first movie, it's way better than all the others. Solid cast, some fun moments, pretty much everything I wanted it to be."
77 59% Ant-Man (2015) - Rated 31 Jul 2015
"Nice to see a smaller scale Marvel flick. Allows more focus on character and less on outdoing its larger cousins. The cast is solid, writing is ok, mostly just fun."
90 91% Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - Rated 25 May 2015
"I didn't think it possible to create a 2 hour car chase that I'd enjoy, but I stand corrected. This is a sequel that lives up to it's 30 year cult-status predecessor by retaining all of the original's wonderful parts and just expanding on it. My favorite thing about this film is the fact that you can tell there is more going on under the surface, but they don't bother explaining that to you because WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT! which just makes me long for more."
