Nobody told me General Mills made a movie featuring all of my favorite breakfast cereal mascots! Steve Buscemi as Fruit Brute was pretty great, not so sure about Yummy Mummy. Although marketed to children, I'm not sure any of these characters should be raising a child though. They peddle marshmallow cereals. We have an obesity epidemic here in the States. I don't know if you knew that or not. (Confession: I bought a box of Frankenberry for my son this year. I'm so sorry)

You don't have to make a sequel of everything.

Not entirely intolerable as far as basic children's animations go admittedly, but completely devoid of anything original.

"...okay throw that all out the window, this is going to be about interracial relationships and having a racist dad deal with it, but CUTE" Monster ball soup was a precious lil' morsel of what made the first one dumb fun.

Yes, its really dumb and a big step down from the first one, but you know what it kept me entertained even if half the time I was laughing at the movie instead of with it.

If you really liked the animation style of the first movie, that would be enough reason to see the sequel. But don't expect much out of it - the plot is still just a variation on "Dracula must learn to accept humanity."

Pretty much the same as the first one, which is to say, not particularly awesome, but also not offensively bad. The whole series is pretty forgettable.

More fun than its bland and forgettable predecessor. It moves fast, and there's a lot going on, and it offers a couple laughs. It...it's fine. My kids make me take them to all the cartoons. This one's fine.

The first one is a pretty good time, but this one loses a lot of the charm and fun. HT2 tried to make itself a Pixar movie and used a connection to a hot button issue to try to make itself accesible to all audiences, but it just did not work, and therefore many of the relevant jokes didn't land either. It's a rough go of a movie, but it's more disappointing than anything else.

Not a film that needed a sequel. The genuinely funny parts are overshadowed by the awkward scenes that aren't funny but try really hard to be. My 3 year old loves it, so maybe that's the target audience. Adults stay away.

W3E1P1S1V1M1A0R1. I don't remember the original well, but this was a surprisingly entertaining sequel, and my kids wanted to watch it again (and they're surprisingly picky). It could have been an extended episode in a cartoon network series, because there was nothing too ambitious here. But that makes for a solid kids film.

It felt strained, like they wanted to drag the sequel out of thin air. The character design was cute, and the moral of the story could have been wholesome but then he turned out to be a vampire anyway. So?? A pointless endeavour. Should have made it a short.

Blah bleh blah sequel is passable as far as these things go; after a bright and promising start, it becomes bogged down in a too heavy handed parable about mixed-marriages and racism. Once again, the voice cast work well together, and Sandler really hits his stride with another likable vocal performance, but overall the film is a flat experience after the modestly charming part 1.

Standard issue “the main couple from the first movie has a kid now” sequel. Some amusing monster gags but mostly fairly unnecessary. Also kind of undermines some of its own themes at the end.

Another round of vampiric misfire and another animated flick centered around monsters and their age old traditions. This time add in a terrible plot about whether or not Drac's grandson is a monster and how he accepts the outcome no matter what despite spending the entire film acting the opposite way. Just another misfire of epic monstrosity with horrible characterization and an even worse script. Drac's new line should be "I vant to suck your wallet dry"

Pretty much the same comments as with first one: idea of monster film for the whole family in the vein of "Universal Monsters" is fun, but the jokes mostly fall flat, characters are not that interesting. At least there is some nice Gothic imagery. Maybe a notch below the first one.

Just like the first, this was nice surprise. The whole monsters seeking shelter from horrific humans is an amusing premise and a good excuse to include many witty references. The plots, of course, are very standard and predictable. But the execution is enjoyable. I liked this sequel slightly more, cause it has a fun take on modern parenting styles.

More generous with kids' movies. It took the unavoidable plotline of sequels to "they got married and had kids" movies, where it's all family conflicts and criticizing hipster fads. Some jokes could entertain adults, but there were not as many of those as there was in the first one. Kids risk liking it however, and since they are the target audience, well the movie does its job. The animation is nice though: stylized and a nostalgic hand-drawn cartoon feel to it.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is a cash-grab sequel that repeats elements from the first film, uses the same bland animation, continues the creepy "daddy knows best" theme, and throws colorful distractions at us in hopes that kids will ignore how awful it all is. "It's just a kids' movie" doesn't cut it here, folks; a bad movie is a bad movie, regardless of whom it's targeting. Hotel Transylvania 2 is in the running for worst animated movie of the year, and you have no reason to see it.

Actually better than the original. It's reasonably funny and the allegory for tolerance and acceptance is rather well done.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is Sony's longest ad for their Xperia range (though in all fairness, they are good phones). The voice acting and animation is good, but the first act is a little dull, and a lot of the jokes fall flat throughout. (Later note: The plot is so forgettable, I actually forgot I saw this one).

A worthy sequel that felt just as good. Having said that, both films feel like Adam Sandler's attempt at children's animated films, which if you're a fan of Adam Sandler and animated children's films, you'll probably like it (as I did).

OK, it's bottom line time: There are plenty of reasons to shiver over the idea of exposing your children to any Halloween-y monster lore. And you know right off that a movie called Hotel Transylvania 2 isn't about finding a good bed and breakfast in Romania. Though, just for the record, this particular kidified version of Dracula and his goofy gallery of ghoulish pals is likely the least creepy creepster flick you'll ever encounter (pluggedin.com)

The sequel to Hotel Transylvania finds earnest & strong willed Mavis now totally absorbed in caring for her baby son. So is the overprotective new grandpa,Dracula. Generally charming. Large family crowd at our screening loved it.

Monsters sure have become cleaned-up over the years, but Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) made me laugh a lot. Same style animation film as made by all the big cartoon companies these days. High quality one at that which is simply good childish fun, even if they've turned all our favorite dark side characters into sissies.

If you want to earn brownie points by giving her a break by taking the kids to the cinema to watch something that they'll like well enough while you try to get some Sunday morning sleep then this is just the thing for you. Unfortunately I never got that snooze as the arsewipe next to me decided to claim his Lebensraum across the arm rest. So I followed him into the toilets and slashed his jugular and then danced in his blood spray. Or maybe I did fall asleep and that bit was a dream. Whatever
