I can't say I entirely understood it, and I'm not sure I want to. It's beautifully abstract and vague, and being free to interpret it's ideas and themes without being nailed down by concrete language makes it all the more enjoyable. After Primer and Upstream Color, whatever Shane Carruth directs next is a must see in my book.

Slow West (2015) - Rated 18 Aug 2015

Consists of a lot of western movie tropes glued together. We aren't given any real reason to care about any of the good characters, or to understand the bad characters' motivations. There's no heart here.

It Follows (2015) - Rated 18 Aug 2015

Acting is a little uneven here and there. Overall sets a great creepy atmosphere. A few refreshingly novel decisions were made, notably not treating the audience like they can't think for themselves. There's a number of plot holes and unanswered questions, but that's more than made up for by being beautifully shot with a clearly defined mood throughout.

Hilariously over the top action.

Time Lapse (2014) - Rated 02 Aug 2015

This is clearly a low budget amateurish film, with equally poor actors, but I'm a sucker for time travel.

Spring (2014) - Rated 02 Aug 2015

Has trouble deciding what kind of film it wants to be, and suffers heavily as a result. If they had committed to being a horror film, there was certainly potential. The main character's reactions to certain major events are thoroughly unbelievable.

Winter Sleep (2014) - Rated 02 Aug 2015

Unusual and often good dialogue. Generally interesting characters and locations. It's incredible length isn't nearly as bad as it appears, but still unfortunately drags a little. Melisa Sozen's performance felt a bit unconvincing.

Chappie (2015) - Rated 07 Jun 2015

Characters are generally unlikeable, and they change motivations for no apparent reason.
