The Woman in Black (1989) - Rated 02 Oct 2025
A decent, creepy, early 1900s ghost film. It could've been much scarier, because this is the unusual situation in which the ghost should've been seen more. The explanation of the backstory was a bit confusing and yet also too simple, and the ghost wasn't explained enough. Near the end the film it becomes a bit too chaotic, and the very end of the film wasn't that good.

Berberian Sound Studio (2012) - Rated 02 Oct 2025
It's decent, mostly straight-forward and a bit weird. But it's a bit disappointing, really. There's so many directions it could've gone, and instead it became more of a subtle and measured kind of drama with a little bit of horror vibes and themes. There's also a bit of respect paid to the film-making of horror and Giallo films from around the 70s, which is nice. The sound design is also really good.

Chernobyl (2019) - Rated 28 Sep 2025
It's directed well but not written well. Most of the characters, of which many are introduced, are too unrealistically stupid for this to be enjoyable. The plot is standard "serious disaster film, leadership bad, people die" and that's it: typical. Usual trope of people in leadership making bad decisions, but in this show it's even more unrealistically stupid.

House (1977) - Rated 26 Sep 2025
An enjoyable, interestingly weird horror-comedy, and a bit of a drama. A lot of random stuff happens. It's often legitimately and absurdly weird in an old and Asian style of way. It has a mostly straight-forward haunted house narrative with decent direction and underdeveloped but decently acted characters. Many elements of story and film don't come together enough to create something greater, and the film is barely held together with its weirdness, which is not enough to create a good film.

Gerald's Game (2017) - Rated 26 Sep 2025
It's much more of a psychological film than i thought. And it's a pretty good survival film. The main character is decent enough, and it's an entertaining film given it's mostly set in one room. Though the ending is definitely is too detailed and too long.

The Century of the Self (2002) - Rated 25 Sep 2025
One of the most insightful sociological and psychological documentaries ever made. It's an exploration of the rise of psychoanalysis and its major effects on western society and culture during the 1900s.

Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2021) - Rated 23 Sep 2025
Mystery film with horror vibes. Kind of interesting and decently made but kind of loses its mind in a bad way. Don't expect good answers to the mystery. It's one of those artsy weird stuff. If you like the subjectivity of that then this is for you. If you prefer more logic and even mere hints at solid answers, you will be annoyed and disappointed.

Reign of Fire (2002) - Rated 21 Sep 2025
A decently entertaining dragon film with a horror vibe mixed with survival vibes of a community in a modern post-apocalypse. The story and world-building is underdeveloped as it rushes too often from plot point to plot point, but the film is anchored by good performances from the decent characters.
