Commando (1985) - Rated 12 Aug 2025
"It's a bit dumber than the usual 80s action film, but it still works and it's enjoyable. You've got your usual tropes, the hot and ditzy sidechick, one liners, 80s synth music, plenty of action and large bodycount, and all that stuff. And it works for the most part. You've got the emotional connection with him going to rescue his kid, which is developed okay. It's a fun time."
Island of Lost Souls (1932) - Rated 11 Aug 2025
Lethal Weapon 3 (1992) - Rated 11 Aug 2025
"It's a good sequel and a good film. Surprisingly, the film series maintains its high quality. These films show that you can be an action hero and also have deep emotions. I love Murtagh's transformation in this film. The film does try to be a bit too cheesy, but it still works. The one liners are there, the action is there, and it's funny all the way through. The female supporting character is awesome. The villain is a bit weaker than the previous film. But overall it's a good action-comedy."
Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages (1922) - Rated 10 Aug 2025
"Sorry, but no, it's boring. It's mostly pictures with some text narration with a boring generic narrative. These days, this would be considered students work, and i don't want to watch students work. Humanity has advanced far beyond this kind of work of 1922, and i have higher standards. Besides, it's not even much of an excuse to be this mediocre, as there are other really good old films that were made some years after this."
Twister (1996) - Rated 05 Aug 2025
"It's supposed to be a constant lighthearted thrill ride. There's always music playing even in the less intense scenes. Does it work? Kind of. It's a fun mindless okay time. Helen Hunt is hot and likeable. Decent characters. There isn't much of a story except for them chasing Tornado's, and the good romantic chemistry between the two main leads. That's it. It's alright. As others have said, this movie is exactly the generic sort of "it was okay" and "watchably entertaining""
Titan: The OceanGate Disaster (2025) - Rated 05 Aug 2025
"A thorough explanation of the OceanGate disaster. All the relevant people involved are interviewed, and we get extensive evidence and testimony about the lead up to what happened, and why it happened. Though i would've liked more detail about the actual event itself, and the theories of survival and the consequences, and the aftermath of such a thing happening and the awareness of the importance of safety regulations."
The 7th Victim (1943) - Rated 04 Aug 2025
"Some mysterious things go on that don't make much sense. The story isn't interesting and the mystery reveal isn't good. It's not much horror either. Too old, short, and normal drama. Plus there's some rubbish rushed cliche romance stuff. The longer it goes on the more disappointing it becomes."
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020) - Rated 04 Aug 2025
Deep Impact (1998) - Rated 03 Aug 2025
Volcano (1997) - Rated 03 Aug 2025
"Mid to okay build up. Mid execution. There are deaths going on from the volcano, the brutality of which is often emphasized. But the volcano chaos feels a bit 1950s hokey, and too cheesy sometimes like with the slow motion and effects. Then the main story gets mid, with mid kinda side plots. The characters are mid to okay."
