60 19% You Were Never Really Here (2017) - Rated 27 Nov 2018
"It had some extremely well done moments of intensity, but too much of the movie meanders through... something. A great use of sound gets lost in the noise of mediocrity."
75 52% Paddington 2 (2017) - Rated 26 Nov 2018
"There are no bad words to describe this movie. It's whimsical, lighthearted, fun, charming, emotional, entertaining, etc..."
70 37% Barry Lyndon (1975) - Rated 26 Nov 2018
"Long is parts, short in others. I would have preferred the movie to either take a more serious, dramatic look at his life, or a more lighthearted "life of a trickster" kind of a look; but not both. Regardless, an enjoyable story that sucks you in, and was absolutely stunning to look at. Like everyone else has mentioned, the cinematography was top notch."
40 4% Overlord (2018) - Rated 21 Nov 2018
"Watching this movie felt like I was watching some who sucks at playing video games play Call of Duty. And not even the Nazi Zombies campaign. It needed at least 10x more zombies."
85 82% If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) - Rated 26 Oct 2018
75 52% A Star Is Born (2018) - Rated 16 Oct 2018
"I wanted to see more of them as a couple, performing together and enjoying this rise to stardom together, instead of splitting off. That said, this was a very emotionally powerful movie. Cooper has never acted half this good in his life."
90 92% First Man (2018) - Rated 13 Oct 2018
"A period piece about space with two handfuls of actors I love is pretty much a guarantee, and Chazelle delivered. The in-their-face filming nailed the anxiety and unknown of the early astronauts, to a point where I found myself gripping the armrest harder and harder. As much as I love spaceflight and the history of it, I'd never really considered the emotional weight of what is truly at stake before this. Foy was incredible, and Gosling delivered as our reluctantly stoic national hero."
55 13% The Endless (2017) - Rated 13 Oct 2018
"An endless loop of poor writing and obnoxious characters. Even the Lovecraftian themes weren't enough to make this an enjoyable one."
75 52% Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) - Rated 12 Oct 2018
"A Tarantino knock off that does good, but not great. The characters are all there, but the plot, storytelling, dialogue, mise en scene, and music; pretty much every aspect of the movie wasn't nearly as tight as it could have been. But it got the job done. Goddard had a great vision, and after Cabin in the Woods (one of my all time favorites) I thought he'd be able to pull this off, and not to say he didn't, because it was certainly fun and enjoyable and *good*, but it left me wanting more."
