- I wasn't sure where to rate this. I considered a 70 and might eventually bump it up (I might have already done it by the time you read this).

- I was entertained. It just doesn't lean enough into anything it does, whether it's the fears of deep fakes in general, but specifically regarding finding criminals or seeing people that are long dead that you were close to, or the typical meta on the horror genre.

- Ghostface just kind of felt like nothing. No real sarcasm. The kills were mostly good, though I'm not the kind of person who sees more gore and goes YAS QUEEN. I do understand the criticism of some of the kills, and even agree with some of it. But the reveal just made me go, "so?" Movies like this can suffer when the reveal comes because it gets built the entire movie, so you have to have something great (and my expectations are sometimes too high), but this was a truly bad reveal, which I suppose is the reason I couldn't bring myself to give it a 70.

You gotta stick the landing.

- I hate saying this, but I suspect Scream 7 won't even be the best slasher of the year, though I'm not going to watch a ton of slashers. I like Scream because of the meta and the mystery of who the killer is, rather than the violence itself, so I don't even consider myself a slasher fan, though I do really like/love some.

- Ultimately, this is super disappointed but not wholly unexpected given the previous Scream is probably the best one in the franchise. It just isn't comparable. Ghostface was angry but maintained sarcasm. The scenes were more tense. Better imagery. More personality.
Mini Review: It's not terrible, but there's a lot of wasted potential. AI is ubiquitous so this is another movie that involves AI, but I actually think there was meat here to chew on, only it didn't cook it. Legacy characters are still fine but it feels more like a play rather than something organic. Ghostface reveals was lame. But there's some good violence, and up until the reveal, it's still an intriguing mystery. It's a decent slasher but not a great Scream because it lacks personality.
