Scream 7

A film about Neve Campbell trying to prevent new Scream movies from being made! Definitely directed by a screenwriter -- the amount of scenes you go like, 'it should look good, but it just doesn't' is unbelievable. It's perhaps my 'favorite' Scream not directed by Craven -- the opening is by far the best of the last three entries --, in the sense it works better as a more straightforward, no-bullshit throwback to the original trilogy, as jerky as it seems, than your expected nostalgia-packed legacy sequel -- it is still there, of course, and it always sounds way too stale; that's why it grows when we get to see Sid and Gale trying to move on and ease their traumas in this world of relentless violence. Problem with the new material, Stu included, is that the young cast can't do much with such atrocious characters.
