24 Hours in A&E

While the stories may at times be interesting or touching, the highly polished way in which the production seeks to ingratiate and manipulate the viewer can be quite off-putting. This is of course used to play with audience emotions, but it is at its worst when music is used as a means of reinforcing a presumed "peculiar British quirkiness". The preference for slightly bemused earnestness also often seems forced: anger and horror are virtually absent. Yet, for all that, not totally unwatchable.
