The House of Steinbrenner

30 minutes of interviews with Yankee fans at the last game at Yankee Stadium where they all say the same thing. 10 minutes of interviews with Hal Steinbrenner being awkward. 20 minutes of interviews with Yankee fans at the new stadium complaining about Sushi.

As a fan of a team that isn’t the Yankees I despise them and all the people who pick them as their team when they live in the Pacific Northwest. Kopple does a great job of humanizing the Yankees and showing what a place like Yankee Stadium 1 means to people and to the history of baseball as a whole. As most stadiums across sport are scrubbed of their character it’s important to remember how it used to be before every stadium was sponsored by FedEx and had a nightclub in the bullpen.

Sports are better when the stadiums are shit. The current obsession with the sleek and sterile in every faucet of the experience are not for me. Kinda cool to have a fan who saw fuckin babe Ruth there for the closing. Him saying DiMaggio was “okay” made me laugh too hard.

Yankee fuckin' Stadium, bro.

I am deadened to all things Yankees from the sheer amount of coverage they get. For hardcore baseball fans and Yankees mouthbreathers only.

All hail one of the greatest owners of all time.
