They added TV series in, eh? This was a staple for Saturday mornings as an 80's kid, and it rolled over into the Disney Afternoon block once the decade turned for a lot of folks. It was that right balance of silly and serious, so that you could have a good time, follow the bears on adventures, and yet it has a fairly cohesive plot and continuity through most of the show. It holds up even rewatching as an adult.
