Often felt like caricatures of World War II cliches, if that makes any sense. There is a good story there, and sometimes it hits the symbolism. At the same time it's missing something to really sink deep into the tragic era and the characters trapped in it.

This movie is full of coincidences intended to pull your heartstring. Nevertheless, it is overall enjoyable.

Very unremarkable. Can only assume the book is better. Acting is ok but the story is not very interesting and could easily have fitted a movie instead of a mini series

If you read the fantastic book, this will be the most disappointing “movie” you will ever see in your life!! I don’t know how the makers of this series can call it by the same name as the book when it is literally a totally different story. So upsetting!

This was an interesting watch... stretches of okay punctuated with brilliance and astonishing moments of wisdom and insight into our humanity. All this is somehow wrapped in a sense of a fairy-tale ambiance despite it being so full of the horrors of war. I really enjoyed so much of it, but found other parts missing the mark.

This show was awesome. I have no idea why this is not rated well by others. Such a powerful and moving show.

Beautifully filmed. It is more like a fairly tale than a realistic war film but it is still effective.
