An Inspector Calls

Like many M. Night Shyamalan films, this movie relies on a twist to make it a worthwhile watch. However, unlike the Sixth Sense, the twist is neither smart nor can it be reasonably deduced from the available information.

Well acted and written adaptation.

A nice way to end the engagement dinner.

A clunky moral tale that ultimately feels affecting, relevant, and meditative.

Hope to see this in on a stage too.

An Inspector Calls, or Ghosts of the past, present and future Christmas. It's nothing special and quite predictable throughout, but David Thewlis does a remarkable role as usual, so for him alone, it's worth the watch.

BBC does J.B. Priestley's 1946 play An Inspector Calls (2015). And as you can expect, the acting is first class. The settings are confined mostly to one upper-class room, much to do with the simplicity of the original play. A tale of morals and human nature to think of themselves first as a Inspector comes to question the family and their involvement in a poor girls suicide. I did feel it was a bit too simplistically done. Or at least they didn't do anything different with the story.

"Your revolution is over Mr. Lebowski, condolences, the bums lost!" Want to be lectured to by communists? This is your movie. Thewlis was great as always.

You need a good performance from the Inspector and boy we get one from Thewlis.
