Whose brilliant idea was it to make Doc Brown's kids the stars instead of Marty?

Doesn't really measure up to the films in any way, shape or form whatsoever, which isn't to deny it doesn't have a bit of nostalgic pleasure to it.

I loved this show as a child, but that was a before I saw the actual movies!

A massive slog and bore compared to the movies, as a kid this show was a massive disappointment to me as a fan of the movies. The new characters were irritable and unlikable, Marty became completely bland in comparison to how he was in the movies and it doesn't feature anywhere near the amount of time travel shenanigans I liked in the movies. On the plus side, though, Llyod was still great as Doc Brown.
