Most of Beast Machine's problems stem from it having nothing to do with the fan-favorite Beast Wars, which to be fair was due to executive meddling. However, the writers still tried way too hard to make BM dark and edgy, especially regarding the Maximals who spent more time fighting each other than the Vehicons, at least once per episode. New characters like Nightscream were flat-out unlikable. The plot and some of the themes were for the most part well done, even if they were a bit heavy-handed

S1 started 80 then - then got to 70 then -. S2 65 so far

The were some really good episodes mixed in with the dreck. More good than bad but it was a rocky beginning and the new designs suck.
