I enjoy this new trend with this and Castlevania of more adult R-rated animated fantasy series. Plotwise I’m probably more mixed. Too much of the main character being the special “Chosen One,” and the gods with this whole world to rule over seem as obsessed with this one town and its people as an autistic kid with his antfarm.

An original story told with greek mythical characters. Sounds extremely good, because you get a story with familiar characters, but you won't know what happens ahead of time, right? Wrong! I really enjoyed the first half of the season, but the second half was extremely predictable. The quality of writing is poor as well. 75% of the characters are so underwritten, I wouldn't be able to tell two things about them. The music is epic, and I liked some of the visuals... and the first 4 episodes.

It's nice to look at and kind of compelling, but every main character is incredibly unlikable and the whole thing seems pulled out of a hat of annoying tropes.

Blood of Zeus is part classical Greek myth and part The Empire Strikes Back (E05-06 literally use the same dialogue and plot points), animated akin to Castlevania with over-the-top violence (which I found a little unnecessary). Despite all the recognisable elements, both narratively and structurally, the drama (and series by extension) is quite compelling.
