Carrie

Every change this adaptation makes (and there are many) is for the worse. Too long, too many subplots, too preoccupied with setting up future seasons. Carrie herself has been airbrushed (aesthetically and character-wise) into nothingness. The new character Emaline is awful and singlehandedly ruins the big finale, completely removing Carrie's accountability for her actions (lest the audience lose its sympathy for her). The visual style is flat and boring, and even the big prom climax underwhelms.

Typically, I trust Flanagan's creative aptitude with my life, but this just feels underbaked and amateurish. It's not really "bad" so much as it's "weak." A simple story stretched out to an 8-part miniseries that is so convoluted and jammed with teen drama filler and random sideplots that it strips all the horror from the story. It's just strange. All the necessary plot beats are there, but the story is simply not Carrie.

Started strong and enjoyable, but every story has a start and an end. If the end is so absolutely dogshit then the story is dogshit. This ending was perhaps the worst I have ever seen. The character is so absolutely unlikeable and despicable that you start to support the bullying she received. It’s tragic. It’s so absolutely disappointing. Would not recommend even bothering to watch it ends so badly. You will despise her and they try to make it ‘be the boss bitch you always where’ how about NO!

I was wondering how they were going to expand this relatively slim novel and brisk movie into eight hours without bloating it to hell — answer: they aren’t. There’s something resembling an adaptation of Carrie in here but it’s buried under a mountain of bullshit and countless subplots that come out to noooothing. The Emmaline character and her constant intrusion into the narrative might be the biggest disaster of a character in anything since Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace.

I've never read the books or seen the movies, so I was pretty much going in 99% blind, which was nice cuz I got to see this completely unbiased. But I had a few thoughts on the final episode, especially, given I found it to be a bit convoluted. 1: What a crazy way to end things between Carrie and her mom! Mike Flanagan yine yine yine başardı. Monolog ve diyaloglarının büyük hayranıyım. Neden tekrar uyarlandı sorusunun cevabını o kadar güzel aldım ki izlerken. Umarım söylediği gibi 2 sezon daha hikayesini izleyebiliriz. Battlestar Galactica fanatiği olarak yaşattıkları ise paha biçilmez ! So say we all!

WHY THE FUCK IS NOBODY STANDING UP FOR THIS PRECIOUS CHILD YET AGAIN!? FUUUUCK I HATE EVERYONE! I have a few problems with the season 1 finale, but overall it was a great modern adaptation.
