Cop Rock

I came in expecting the goofy, fun kind of bad. While it has some of that, it's mostly the uncomfortable kind of bad. It swings wildly between gritty copaganda; soft, dewy numbers about Family and Love; absolute bonkers nonsense; the occasional effective expression of the complex racial and class tensions of LA; and more copaganda, to waste what goodwill the good numbers earned. I don't think audiences rejected the idea of a musical cop show; I think they rejected slamming wildly between tones.
