Fauda

Outstanding and kept me watching 100% of the time on edge of my seat

75 for 1 and 2

S1-3. Definitely an exciting watch, especially the first season when it’s all new. The operations in enemy territory are well constructed and tense. In the third season i feel Fauda runs out of ideas and the plausibility, that was always the weakest point of the show, tips over to the wrong side. They got away with it quite long but at some point you gotta start asking why the Palestinians can never shoot straight or generally be a bit smarter. You need excellent opponents for a good thriller!

A series that I can simply watch over and over again, rare acting, amazing production, precision in detail. Just like a documentary series. Especially because most of the actors who play the role of the warrior - undercover, actually served in the IDF in one or a similar role, which gives it a rare authenticity.

S1 is pretty good at portraying the Israel-Palestine conflict and why certain problems arise on both sides. Sadly the later seasons turn very pro Israel and seem to dehumanise most Palestinians as animals and lower beings that you can shoot. Typical example is how the Israeli strike team keep bursting into multiple houses and shoot lots of seemingly random people in front of their family, women and children, as if this is a completely natural thing for the Israeli army to do when hunting someone

Don't believe the hype, the first season is watchable but it's not interesting on its own. At some point it felt like run of the mill melodrama set within complex geopolitical situation with some name drop here or there.

There's a little bit of the intrigue and action you'd expect from a cat and mouse game, but at its core this is pretty much your usual TV melodrama. I guess it has sparked some controversy on both sides of the political spectrum, but that's to be expected from the volatile subject matter. Above and beyond it, this is pretty tame.
